Health Benefits and Resources

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø) strives to provide you and your family with a comprehensive and valuable benefits package.

Eligible employees have five (5) medical plan options to choose from, along with a dental plan, vision plan, life and AD&D insurance plan, an employee assistance program, voluntary long-term disability insurance, and voluntary universal life insurance with long-term care rider.

As allowed under IRS Section 125 Flexible Spending Account regulations, employees can elect either at time of hire or during the annual open enrollment period to have the employee medical plan payroll deduction taken out pre-tax. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø is part of a Joint Powers Authority known as ASCIP (Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs). Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø, along with other school districts, pool resources and money together in order to self-fund the PPO medical plan option. The District self-funds the dental and vision insurances.

Eligible Employees

Health benefits eligibility is administered in accordance with the bargaining unit agreements, Board Policies, Administrative Regulations, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) regulations. The following employees are eligible for health benefits:

  • Full-time management and confidential employees
  • CSEA classified employees working 30-hours or more per week
  • SCFT full-time faculty employees
  • POA classified employees working 40-hours or more per week
  • ACA eligible employees

Eligible dependents can be enrolled onto the health plans within 31-days from date of hire (including date of hire), 31-days from qualifying event date (including event date), and/or during the annual open enrollment period.

Dependent eligibility is administered in accordance with the individual health insurance plan guidelines.

BenefitBridge

BenefitBridge is the District's web-based benefits administration portal. It is available to eligible employees to enroll in benefits, review benefit elections, find benefit summaries, benefit plan documents, and benefit resources, as well as complete qualifying life event changes. BenefitBridge can be accessed through your employee MyPortal apps catalog. 

Medical Insurance Plans

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø offers five (5) medical plan options for eligible employees - ASCIP 90/70 PPO plan, ASCIP High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) HSA compatible PPO plan, Kaiser Permanente High Traditional HMO plan, Kaiser Permanente Low DHMO plan and Kaiser High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) HSA compatible HMO plan.

With the ASCIP 90/70 PPO plan, each time you need care you can choose a participating provider within the provider network (in-network). Members do have access to out-of-network care.

The ASCIP 90/70 PPO health plan uses the following vendors and provider networks:

  • Anthem Blue Cross provider network nationwide for medical benefits and services.
  • Prescription drug benefits are managed by Navitus.

With the ASCIP High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), each time you need care you can choose a participating provider within the provider network (in-network).

The ASCIP HDHP health plan uses the following vendors and provider networks:

  • Anthem Blue Cross provider network nationwide for medical benefits and services.
  • Prescription drug benefits are managed by Navitus.

The Kaiser Permanente HMO high plan is considered a traditional plan. There is no annual deductible, no co-insurance.

With a Kaiser HMO plan, Kaiser has its own network of providers, hospitals and medical facilities. Members must receive care from a Kaiser facility and provider. There are no out of network benefits unless the member has been provided authorization to obtain care outside of the Kaiser HMO network.

Kaiser offers telemedicine services, health and wellness classes, and a weight management program.

The Kaiser DHMO low plan is considered a deductible plan. There is an annual deductible for benefits and services in relation to the hospital (lab tests, emergency room, urgent care, etc.).

With a Kaiser HMO plan, Kaiser has its own network of providers, hospitals and medical facilities. Members must receive care from a Kaiser facility and provider. There are no out of network benefits unless the member has been provided authorization to obtain care outside of the Kaiser HMO network.

Kaiser offers telemedicine services, health and wellness classes, and a weight management program.

The Kaiser High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) is considered a high deductible plan and is HSA compatible. There is an annual deductible for benefits and services.

With a Kaiser HMO plan, Kaiser has its own network of providers, hospitals and medical facilities. Members must receive care from a Kaiser facility and provider. There are no out of network benefits unless the member has been provided authorization to obtain care outside of the Kaiser HMO network.

Kaiser offers telemedicine services, health and wellness classes, and a weight management program.

Dental Insurance Plan

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø offers one dental plan option to eligible employees. This is a self-funded dental plan. The dental plan provider is Ameritas PPO. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø pays 100% of the dental insurance plan premium.

The Ameritas PPO dental plan has both in-network and out-of-network benefits. Ameritas does have its own provider network and use of an in-network provider is encouraged in order to maximize your dental plan benefits.

Upon initial enrollment, all new employees and their eligible dependents start at the 70% incentive level for benefits. In order for the annual incentive level to increase, members and their eligible enrolled dependents must use the benefits at least once per year to maximize benefits.

Vision Insurance Plan

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø offers one vision plan option to eligible employees. This is a self-funded vision plan. The dental plan provider is Vision Service Plan (VSP) and claims are administered by Ameritas. The District pays 100% of the premium.

The VSP vision plan provides in-network benefits which include eye exams once every 12 months, frames every 24 months, lenses every 12 months, and contacts (in lieu of glasses) every 12 months, including other extra benefits.

Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø offers eligible employees a $50,000 Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) plan including a $5,000 life insurance policy for eligible dependents enrolled on the Medical plan. Management and Confidential Employees also receive an additional employer-paid, age-based benefit under the life insurance plan. The District pays 100% of the premium.

Eligible members can take advantage of additional services such as funeral planning, estate planning and travel assistance.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is offered through SimpleTherapy SimpleEAP. EAP is a confidential counseling service available to eligible district employees and anyone within the eligible employee’s household. Eligible employees and members of their households are allowed 6 free sessions per year, per issue. The EAP plan can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The District pays 100% of the premium.

Voluntary Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø provides all benefit eligible employees hired on or after September 1, 2013, the opportunity to purchase at cost voluntary long-term disability (LTD) insurance coverage offered through VOYA. Long-term disability insurance can provide a monetary benefit should an employee be deemed disabled and unable to work, causing a loss of income. The employee pays 100% of the premium.
