This procedure is implemented when staying inside the building is safer than evacuating, due to violent or other immediate threats outside the campus.
What to Do During a Hold and Secure Procedure?
- Close, lock and monitor exterior doors
- Remain in the building and proceed with regular campus activities
- Keep calm and stay updated
- If you are outside, swiftly move into the nearest location
- Remain in the campus building until you are advised it is safe to leave

A Hold and Secure alert will be issued through our public announcement system and/or our DC Alerts system. An 鈥淎ll Clear鈥 message will be issued by these same methods when the situation is resolved.
Updates will be broadcast through DC Alerts and posted on the College website, social media and press releases.
