No Change Yet to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Facial Covering Requirements

Mar 2, 2022 —

On February 28, 2022, Governor Newsom announced changes to the masking rules for counties that have reached significantly lower COVID-19 cases. Unfortunately, Fresno and Madera counties have not yet reached the data thresholds. Therefore, at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø, we will stay the course, and we will all continue to wear facial coverings. However, it is important to note, there is light at the end of the tunnel; our numbers are trending downward.

We will continue to work with our local public health officials to provide a safe learning and working environment for students and employees. As new local data becomes available, we will provide you with an update.

The Governor announced yesterday, that beginning today in California, unvaccinated individuals will not be required to wear a facial covering, rather they are "strongly recommended for all individuals in most indoor settings." Governor Newsom also announced that on March 12, school children in districts and counties with low COVID-19 numbers will move from mask requirements to mask recommendations, as a result of declining case rates and hospitalizations.

Facial coverings will still be required on public transit, health care settings, correctional facilities and long-term care facilities.

Please stay healthy, our county numbers are looking better. Let's do our part to stop the transmission of COVID-19.

Sincerely,

Dr. Carole Goldsmith, Ed.D.
Chancellor
